Daniel Glenn Kandell
1 Day old

Motherhood, it is one of the most amazing journeys a woman could ever have. I am so thankful to have Daniel in my life.

I remember how excited I was when I first found out...I couldn't believe it and actually went out and bought a second pregnancy test, just so I could double check. Sure enough it said pregnant as well. We shared the news with our family and shared both laughter and joyous tears.
I remember how exciting it was to begin to see my boy change and grow as this little miracle was growing inside of me. We shared everything together, and I now miss so much about being pregnant, feeling his movements, watching my belly jump. The prenatal period was something that I will remember for the rest of my life...it was magical.

When Daniel was born, although everyone told me how fast this special time would go, I didn't believe it, but now I know what they meant. Daniel is almost nine months old, I love watching him learn and grow...but I miss my little baby. I miss when Daniel was so little that he would pull his knees to his tummy and tuck down his chin to snuggle up against my chest, when all he wanted was to be held and snuggled with. Now as I watch my angel grow, I see him getting more independent, and mobile. He wants to crawl and cruise, and our special bonding times of cuddling and nursing are becoming fewer.

It is amazing though, I am enjoying being a stay at home mom, never missing a moment as he becomes more interested in touching, moving, and learning. He loves to go walking and look at the lights, watching the snowfall, reading and exploring. I get to watch him change and grow in every way.

To all mothers out there, enjoy every moment with your children, hold them and love on them, they grow up so fast.

Crochet Collector Dolls

A few years ago...about eight to be exact, I picked up a crochet book with this beautiful doll dress. It had matte and pearl thread combinations, lace and many different pieces to make. I went out and purchased the items I needed including the tiny doily hooks that make you almost cross eyed as you work with them. Then I started the tedious job of crocheting this gorgeous Civil War Era gown. It is one of my favorite pieces that I have replicated three times with little changes to each and in several different colors. These gowns are created through Paradise Publications and are a joy to create. As each period piece comes to a finish, you can almost picture the young girls going to parties in the dresses, or Marie Antoinette, or Scarlett O'Hara. I will try to post more pictures soon, but here is a picture of the doll I created for my grandmother...my first attempt.

Powder Pink 0-6 month dress

Several years ago, I started making crochet collector costumes for Barbie. They were beautiful gowns ranging from Marie Antoinette to Princess Diana. Last year when I first found out I was pregnant, I originally wanted a girl, just like most mommies do, of course I had many dreams about what my little angel was going to be and it was ALWAYS a boy. So we went for our ultrasound, and sure enough I was pregnant with my wonderful son Daniel.
Then I found out that all of my friends were pregnant too, I didn't do as much crafting though, because I was going through teacher trainings for yoga, and working, and completely engulfed in the wonderful experience of watching my body and life change.
I finished my very first baby dress this evening, and I am so ecstatic over it, I almost cried! I made this little Powder Pink dress...and I want a little girl so bad. So this very first dress I've made, I will hold onto for my own little girl. I can't bare to part with it. I am also planning on making a pair of soakers to go under it ( see previous post), with frills on the backside, a bonnet and pair of shoes. I am now hoping that perhaps I will be pregnant again by the start of 2011 at the latest, because this would be a beautiful little dress to see on my baby girl for Easter or Summer....did I mention I would like to have a baby girl. :)
I do love my precious little boy so much, and I have wonderful crafting ideas for him as well. I have a few sweaters that I have been looking at, as well as a pattern for a carseat blanket for him. He is my pride and joy and I am so in love with him. He is ...perfect...always smiling and happy and a great sleeper. Brian and I are very blessed to have such a good tempered little boy.

New projects

I was recently asked to be Godmother to my best friends new little angel. We are not positive what the sex of the baby is yet, but he/she is due in June, and the Christening is in August. We will be going out to visit for four days...I hope. Last time we saw Tina and her family was about two years ago at our wedding

Anyway, I have some ideas of projects for this new baby, and here are some photos of the yarn colors and some of the items I'll be working on.

The hat will be the same as Daniel's, I'll do one in blue, one in green and one in purple
